ECHo – The European Country House in the 21st Century

Description : There are two main strands to this project: the workshops discussing case study sites and the socio- economic research into the role of the European Country house and the regenerative effects it brings to the local community. Archaeological Surveying Models (CHASM)

Description : Organisation of surveying and research actions on sites in BG, UK, IE and SK. There will also be an opening and a closing session with 2 representatives of each participating organisation. The results of each survey will be the object of an exhibition in the relevant country, there will also be a display on the project as a whole shown in all participating countries. There will also be a website to accompany the project.
Objectives : Increase understanding of the sites through surveys, recording and interpretation, experiment with surveying process, exchange experiences, investigate potential of archaeological surveys to influence sensible management of sites, give young people a change to work with and learn from experts, encourage public participation

European Vernacular Architecture, Cultural Heritage Exchange

Description : The activities consist of four heritage reconstructions and three themed workshops.
Objectives : The project aims to create structures that are 'living archaeology' so that young people can learn about their own and Europe's heritage through active involvement. There will be an exchange of knowledge and skill through European mobility and a wider awareness of vernacular architecture from the peripheral areas of Europe. The reconstructions will also be of use for future interpretation.

Description : The project proposes an international 10 day workshop plus technical meetings. Subsequently, each working group will be responsible and work remotely on one specific area. A final exhibition will take place in Parco Cinque Terre in June 2005.
Objectives : The project aims are to identify and find suitable solutions to the main problems related to the parks and their heritage resulting from tourism and the economy in order to develop a model which can be used by similar European parks; to bring together young people from across Europe to create a network based on long-term cooperation; the exchange of multi-disciplined know-how across Europe.

EuroWart “Tone to Tone“

Description : Songs from the Pannonian region will be researched and arranged into a modern day form. They will be performed by a Symphony lead by renound Austrian Pop artists. After researching the music of the Pannonian area each of the cultural institutions involved will work on finding the musical similarities in culture and tradition. The material gathered will be arranged and interpreted by the famous composer Christian Kolonvits who will then conduct an orchestra made up of participants from each of the countries involved.
Objectives : The main object of this project is to consolidate the cultural heritage of the Pannonian region. The project will also be bring people together who were previously seperated by the Iron Curtain meaning that friendships can be made and stereotypes broken.

Description : The project is designed to show in detail how one cultural sphere from the Atlantic Ocean to the Black Sea came into being for the first time in European history. Planned activities are: the development of a multi-lingual database of the elements that led to a common culture supported by explanatory texts and illustrations and a touring exhibition presented in the national language of each member of the project.
Objectives : The project aims to appeal to as broad an audience as possible through the Internet and an understandable presentation of the database and exhibition. The project shall propose that integration does not automatically eradicate regional characteristics.

Description : Full title: Acoustic Literature Map of Europe. The cooperation between the partners is meant to be the starting point for an expanding network. They want to create an internet portal, organise events (readings, radio programmes, literature festivals), develop educational concepts, create archives for literature and sound, develop and connect audio formats and methods of production. They have reached a distribution agreement with the consortium of the European audio exchange platform "StreamOnTheFly".
Objectives : Make literature audible and overcome language barriers. Bring European literature closer to the people. Support a lively, modern literature scene and bring together the different actors in this domain.

Changing Faces

Description : Changing Faces will expand the existing 2003/4 cultural heritage exchange photography fellowship programmes between The European Photography Consortia (EPC). The three year programme will focus on a different area each year: candidate countries; member states; non EU countries; and will explore a different theme each year. Photography will be used each year to explore the host's cultural perspective of Europe and vice versa. After the 2 month exchanges there will be an annual publicly accessible touring exhibition and publication by the partners. 3 international conferences are planned with international delegates and publication documents.
Objectives : Changing Faces has 4 objectives: to develop a visual record of the Evolution of European Cultural Heritage, which is accessible through a number of media; to create knowledge networks of academic, archive and gallery venues using photography; to engage with schools and communities to foster better understanding of social diversity through involvement in the project; to provide a framework in which photographers create new work using research to increase public awareness of cultural heritage issues.
