History
Culture 2000 is a Community programme of the European Union aimed particularly at art and culture. The programme was adopted on 14 February 2000 by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union on the basis of DECISION No 508/2000/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL establishing the Culture 2000 programme . It is established for a period of five years, starting from 1 January 2000. The accession of Slovakia to the programme was approved at the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the European Union on 9 October 2001. The total budget for the programme is set at EUR 167 million (SKK 7.181 billion) and, this is annually updated through the call for proposals for respective years.
