Cultural Contact Point
The Cultural Contact Points (CCP) were established in the Member States and the associated countries of the European Union in 1998 in relation to the preparation and implementation of the largest Community framework programme entitled ”Culture 2000 programme” in support of culture. The CCP Slovakia has been established as a co-ordination centre for the implementation of the above-mentioned programme in the Slovak Republic. It was set up by the Department of European Integration at the International Co-operation Section of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic. From the beginning of the year 2005 the CCP Slovakia is not any more incorporated into the Ministry of Culture, but it works within the Theatre Institute in Bratislava.
The CCP's main tasks are:
- promoting the Culture 2000 programme;
- facilitating participation in the programme by as many professionals from the cultural field as possible;
- ensuring the dissemination of information about the programme to Slovak citizens;
- maintaining permanent contacts with the various national institutions providing support to the cultural sector;
- providing national and European-wide contacts, information, consulting and advisory services regarding partnership during the preparation of projects;
- consulting and co-ordinating assistance during the preparation of project proposals and completing application forms (however, the CCP cannot complete the application form on behalf of applicants and send it directly to the European Commission);
- assistance with searching for partners through the network of cultural contact points in the countries participating in the Culture 2000 programme, as well as through partner contact points for foreign international organisations and cultural institutions;
- creating databases of partners under thematic groups and existing European cultural networks that will subsequently be published on the CCP's web site in order to be available to as many cultural institutions and cultural operators in Slovakia as possible
- organising information campaigns in regions with the aim of ensuring the dissemination of information about the programme and opportunities for partnerships at the European level to the maximum extent
- widespread distribution of calls for proposals, as well as other documents on cultural sectors produced by the Directorate General for Education and Culture at the European Commission.
